    In Tank Tycoon you play as an aspiring tank manufacturer, trying to design, build and sell the best tanks.

    In Tank Tycoon you play as an aspiring tank manufacturer, trying to design, build and sell the best tanks. Compete for contracts, stay cost effective and manipulate the world leaders in your interest. The DOS-Game "Detroit" serves as an inspiration for this game, although Tank Tycoon has the potential to be a lot more political and satirical, while staying true to its tycoon/management roots. I already have a Prototype of the game, check the website here: http://tank-tycoon.com The Prototype can serve as a starting point, but can be thrown out completely in favor of a better concept - that's what a prototype is for. A design document exists and is maintained.

    For the game engine, i would love to use Godot. It is the highest ranked game engine on slant, a breeze to use and completely free. The game can be made 2D or 3D, depending on our skills. For 2D, i think isometric opens the best possibilities to show something interesting, i.e. your production facilities, transportation or testing of tanks, production lines and so on.

    My part

    I am a professional software developer with a few years on the belt. I started programming much earlier, 15 years ago, focusing on games. Besides programming, i can also design games.
    I have basically no skills on the asset department, so this is the most important area i need your support. Of course, more experience on game design would also be great. In programming, my weakest point is graphics programming, as i did only basic shaders so far. I can do basic management and PR, but would much prefer to focus on my core strengths.

    Let's build something fun first - this is difficult enough.

    Risks & challenges

    First of all, we have to form an effective team. We will need to keep focused despite the ups and downs development always brings with it.
    Making something fun is difficult. Finishing and shipping something fun is much more difficult, this is the biggest long term challenge in my eyes.

      Your task is to fill the game with content that brings out the best in the systems we design. For example, tanks are built of different modules like the engine or the gun. Your task is to create those in game and balance their attributes. This involves a lot of playtesting.

      Experience in game design. Balancing mods for existing games are a great example in this.

      Function description

      You will create the ingame assets/sprites for the game. Your task is broadly divided in 2 content areas: tanks and facility. We'll need many tank modules, each with distinctive graphics. With these modules, new tanks will be created. The facility is the place where the tanks are designed, produced and shipped. We'll need factories, rails, offices, testing areas, trees and so on. The perspective should be orthographic, it does not have to be strictly isometric.
