    Top-down ARPG that differs from other games due to Dark Souls style combat and a target audience of ARPG Veterans!

    This project is a top-down ARPG set in a dark fantasy world (references: Diablo II, Grim Dawn, Dark Souls). The graphics style is planned to be low-poly, however, that could change depending on the artists we will have on board.

    The game will feature dodge & roll mechanics similar to Dark Souls, and the focus will be more on fighting individual monsters and smaller packs, rather than hordes of enemies like in other ARPGs. It will take more skill to fight in combat, and tactical decisions as well as reaction time will determine the outcome of a fight.

    The game will be focused mostly on combat & loot (Hack, Slash, Loot). The found weapons and armour do benefit the player, but not so much like in other games of the genre. The limiting factor in combat will be determined more by skill than by gear (reference: Dark Souls equipment).

    The gameplay will be focused more on the journey to maximum level, rather than endgame only like in many ARPGs. A hand designed world is waiting to be explored. The leveling process should be fun and engaging, as that is the time the player character progresses in equipment and abilities. After the player has played through the main story and world, fun and engaging endgame systems are planned to be implemented for further loot hunting and build maximization.

    The game is currently in the prototyping phase, so everything is subject to change (for the better)!.

    My part

    I will be managing the project, talking to people and making sure that progress is being made. On top of that, I will be the lead programmer of this project due to my programming experience, and I will write the code for most of the game's systems.

    My job is also to put the assets of people together and glue them into something that is playable.

    (Expected) Revenue

    Revenue split will be discussed at a later stage in development and will be measured by the quantity & quality of work that is provided by the individual.

    Risks & challenges

    The challenge is to come up with something fresh and innovative in the ARPG genre. This project will focus more on build diversity, character progression and general depth of the game.

    Unlike in other ARPGs, the player will not constantly fight hordes of monsters. Instead, there will be strong, individual monsters and smaller packs. The player has to roll, dodge & block manually and time his attacks, similar to the Dark Souls series. For that, he will be rewarded with loot and experience points, which the player can invest into a deep character progression system.

    This game is an attempt to combine the best of both genres.

      Function description

      We are looking for 3D Artists to design low-poly characters used as Enemies, Weapons, Armour, Props, Environmental Assets and more. If you specialize in one of the mentioned fields, don't hesitate to message me nonetheless. Update: We are currently looking for low-poly Character Artists only.

      Requirements

      Experience in 3D modelling and texturing / coloring. Rigging skill is also very welcome!

      Function description

      We are looking for people to design the game's dungeons and outdoor lands with assets created by our Artists!

      Requirements

      Being able to creatively put together interesting levels with a wide range of available assets. This may include: Dungeons, Sewers, Forests, Towns, Villages, Deserts, Swamps and more! Your job also includes the placement of enemy spawns.

      Function description

      Sound Designers are needed for creating atmosphere FX and all sound effects in the game!

      Requirements

      The ability to create weapon swing and impact sounds, footstep sound effects on different ground materials, enemy sounds like growling, atmosphere effects like wind, birds, drops of items, UI sound effects and many more! You are not necessarily required to create -all- of the sound effects alone, but it would be great if you have the knowledge to create a wide range of them!

      You will animate and bring to life the characters made by our Artists!

      Requirements

      Knowledge in how to rig and animate smooth and realistic animations for humanoids and non-humanoids. This includes running animations, attack animations, dodge and roll animations, hit animations, interact animations and more!

      Function description

      You will be responsible for creating and tweaking fun gameplay mechanics, classes, skills, equipment etc. On top of that, you will create most of the Particle Effects for the game, including atmospheric effects and skill effects. Note: If you are solely interested in Game Design, or solely in creating Particle FX, you can apply as well.

      Requirements

      Creative mindset and knowledge of how to create fun and engaging gameplay mechanics. Experience in creating complex and visually appealing particle effects in the Unity3D game engine.
