ivideo reading is an adaptive online reading video game that will be designed to help students learn how to read.

ivideo reading will be an adaptive online quest reading video game that will be designed to help students build the essential skills necessary to cultivate reading, comprehension, and vocabulary skills. The game will adjust and adapt to students needs as students assimilate skills and complete levels of the game at their own pace.

    ivideo reading

Students will first learn fundamental reading skills, such as phonics, blending consonants, sounding out words, and reading sentences. Students graduate to new levels by mastering reading words, reading comprehension skills, making inferences, learning more difficult vocabulary and reading more difficult passages.

Making Reading Fun and Keeping Students Engaged Students will choose their character and move through different worlds, while solving and collecting things for the quest. As they progress through the game. In order to progress to the next level and the next world, students will have to complete certain reading task. Thus making this video game a fun learning tool.

Where Things Are So Far The majority of the environments are done. We've modeled about half of the characters and assets and have started animating them. We're about 10% done with programming and sound.

    My part

I have been teaching myself 3D animation and programming, and I am a novice to video game making. However this is an educational game and I am not a novice to that. I have a very clear idea of what this game will look like and accomplish. My role is to build the curriculum that will teach the skills that the game is designed to teach. I am also responsible for developing the story lines, the overall game development, and to manage the project. I am also happy to (and wanting to) contribute anywhere that I can. I am also responsible for marketing the game to the public once it's built and managing the overall process.

    (Expected) Revenue

It's hard to say at this point. The game will be free for all American students and I am currently thinking that there will be a small monthly fee for international students (with that will come the game and other resources). Although the game will be free for its largest target market, I do plan on selling ad space to companies. So there could be a good amount of revenue that would come from that. The collaborators who work on this game will receive profit sharing for the first 2 years after the game's release. After that there will be royalties or a piece of the entire company given. My plan is to make other educational games, so if the team works well together this can turn into more.

    Risks & challenges

If you enjoy making games and have the time, there really aren't very many risk. The game is in early development, so there's really nothing but upside. The challenge will be to get it done and get it out to the public (the latter is my problem).
