Portal VR

Hey everyone. I'm creating what Valve is not : a portal-like game in VR (oculus rift first then Vive)

My project is Portal in VR. The idea is not to make it story-intensive but level-based and challenging, with the possibility of shipping a level-design tool with the game at a later stage. The project is something a lot of people are both expecting and fearing as it's both appealing and tricky to tackle VR sickness issues. While I don't own any of Valve's IP, I can't call it portal or have the same kind of environment. However, a portal-based puzzle game can be reproduced and that is what I'm currently working on.

The idea is to start with around 15-20 test chambers using a variety of puzzle elements, lasers, walkways, companion cubes, etc. with increasing difficulty and leaderboards for best times. Some new test chambers can then be added on a regular basis as part of updates.

The project is currently in a prototype state with working portals, physics, items trough portals, lasers, lightpath etc. and is improving daily.

    My part

I'm a game dev and game designer from Belgium specialized in VR. I created a game called Music Box that is currently available on the Oculus store (free). I'm now willing to step up my game(s) and deliver a really good quality game for the Oculus.
I have experience with Unity3D, C#, .Net but i lack quite a lot of artistic skills.

    (Expected) Revenue

As I am lacking business skills I can't really predict what the revenues will be.
But I intend to sell the game as a one-time payment of 15€ with all updates coming as free content. The update count will depend on the community's response. And hopefully, with the community-created chambers we could quickly get a really important amount of challenges.

    Risks & challenges

In my opinion there are 2 main risks.
The first is to have Valve complaining that we are stealing their product which I will then have to prove wrong
The second is the fact I'm joining this platform. I know some people might want to drop out of the project in the middle of it and that is a risk I must take.

The main challenge, despite obvious technical difficulties, is to bring it to the masses and make sure everyone knows it exists. I currently lack business and social skills and this is why I'm writing this text on indie teamup hoping to find complementary skill sets;-)

I'm looking for an artist passionate about Valve's "Portal" games and who are willing to re-imagine a different universe based on the same idea. I'm looking for someone enthusiastic to bring new ideas in, new concepts and imagine what the game should look like in close partnership with me.

      Requirements

Talented artist, good mood, enthusiasm, open-minded.

      Offer

Everyone involved int he creating process of the project you will be paid according to the game's revenues. As the business plan is not yet in place I can't say how this will take place but I'll be open for discussion.

I'm looking for a 3D artist who can bring the concept artist's views to life, while sticking to certain technical requirements. It's better if you have basic animation knowledge to bring more movement and "life" to the game.

      Requirements

Any 3D studio knowledge (3DsMax, Maya, Blender, Cinema4d,...) that can export in unity3D-compatible formats. Animation basics or shader knowledge is also a plus. I also welcome new ideas, creativity, and originality.

      Offer

you will be paid according to the game's revenues. As the business plan is not yet in place I can't say how this will take place but I'll be open for discussion.

I'm looking for someone who has what I really don't have. I am really poor when it comes to PR and I'm looking for someone who could help me bring the game to the broadest audience possible. This includes social media, videos, events, website, etc.

      Requirements

Be able to manage facebook, websites, register to events and present the game to the public.

      Offer

you will be paid according to the game's revenues. As the business plan is not yet in place I can't say how this will take place but I'm open for discussion.
